BELTANE SUN CARD was created from an original painting by Courtney Davis. Beltane (May 1st) is best known on the Celtic calendar as a day of fertility and healing. It is the second of four Celtic fire festivals. On that day, the Sun God called "Baal" in Britain and "Bel" in Ireland was celebrated. As the bonfires burned down, cattle were driven through to bless them. Another tradition was the triple jumps of couples over the fires for luck. Though this was not considered a wedding ceremony, it was considered a sealing of their vows to each other that usually foretold later marriage. 5"x7" blank card with decorated inside and decorated outer envelope.
