Product Details

This BIG HORN SHEEP ornament was handcrafted in The Philippines from the fiber of the Buri palm tree. The fiber is twisted onto a wire with the resulting round brush being cut by hand into a final shape. Other hands work on dying, shaping and gluing parts to create the final brush creature. All eyes, ears, noses and feet are made from seeds, leaves, pods or carved wooden pieces. Brushkins are quite sturdy and not easily damaged by handling. Although its parent tree lived outside, it is not recommended to leave a Brushkin alone in the wild for very long. Production of this product provides jobs for over 400 people and gives the employees and their families an increased standard of living with more educational opportunities. No permanent destruction of any plant or tree has occurred to produce this small Brushkin work of art and nature.
