"A BOOK OF IRISH VERSE" edited by W. B. Yeats was originally published in London by Methuen and Company. This book focuses on Irish poets of the 18th and 19th centuries. In compiling this collection, Yeats tried to point a new direction for Irish poetry. He attempted to weed out elements of propaganda and sentiment and to encourage the translation of Gaelic poems into English. There are over 100 poems including such titles as "The Light of Other Days", "Dark Rosaleen" and "Requiescat". The paperback book is 288 pages long with a new introduction by Denis Donoghue.
