Product Details

This CABIN IN THE WOODS CANDLE HOUSE was made entirely by hand in Lithuania. Lithuania is located on the eastern coast of the Baltic sea next to Poland. Its Grand Duke accepted the Polish crown in 1386 and by 1569 the two countries had merged into a commonwealth. When Poland was partitioned, Lithuania was annexed by Russia, regaining its autonomy only briefly after the Russian Empire fell in 1918. It was not until 1991, due to the disintegration of the USSR, that Lithuania became an independent democratic republic. It is said that during the time of Soviet occupation, these candle houses were placed in windows as a silent protest against the forces of Communism. Each candle house is shaped by hand and triple-fired to withstand the heat of tea lights. (It is suggested that the bottom of the house be placed on something heat-resistant rather than directly onto furniture.) Candle house measures 3.50" high x 4" wide and 3" deep. THREE AVAILABLE.
