"Artists have been given a fabulous gift, but with it comes great responsibility. We have the chance to change the world by portraying images of how life could be and how it should be. No message is more powerful or has more impact than an image created by an artist driven by a desire to preserve all that is good in our world and to vanquish all that is against nature. Why do artists nearly all have a great passion for, and appreciate of, nature? I believe it is due to their sensitivity and ability to observe more closely and be open to act as a channel for the energy of Mother Earth. I wish that man would no longer be ruled by greed but would just enjoy the simple things of life - most of which are free." JOSEPHINE WALL
Josephine Wall was born in Farnham, Surrey, England in 1947. Her father, Ray Beadman, was a professor of languages who specialized in French. Her mother was involved in various choral societies as well as the "Women's Institute". Josephine was raised with one sister, Christina. Her family moved to Dorset when she was fourteen. Years later, she married her husband Bob Wall. They still reside in Dorset in a charming place called Wisteria Cottage.
Josephine attended art college and worked for a short time at Poole Pottery as a painter of "Delphis Ware" which is now highly collectible. She sold her first painting at sixteen. Early on in her career, her images were primarily landscapes, seascapes and portraits. After leaving Poole Pottery, she began to concentrate on fantasy images. Over time, she had three children and today has eight grandchildren.
The world of Josephine Wall is a gentle one. As well as great skill in composition, she evidences a joy in the beauty of vibrant colors. Her images show amazing detail and reflect her deep love for the earth, its people, its plants, animals and all its other elements. Her work reflects the power of fantasy, of dreaming and most certainly of love. Many of the images show a desire to find out secrets that lie at the heart of things such as within the heart of a flower or in the opening of a sea shell. Each of her paintings is done in acrylic as it tends to dry quite fast while enabling Josephine to create various textures in the paint. On average, an original image takes 100-150 hours to put down on canvas.
Josephine Wall is a truly unique artist. She has been selected to participate in exhibitions at prestigious London and New York galleries. Over the past twenty-five years, more than four hundred of her original paintings have been collected on a global level and her reputation continues to grow.
