Among the various adornments worn by the Celts beads played an important part. Some of the finest bead artifacts found have been unearthed in burial mounds created for high-ranking Celtic chiefs. Recovered beads have been made from various materials including gold, silver, bone and amber. Quite possibly influenced by the ancient Egyptians, the Celts also became highly skilled at crafting beads. In today's Wales, Celtic beads continue to be made by a small group called Black Dragon Crafts. Headed by Annie Wealleans, this group started creating original and affordable beads of pewter, sterling plated, in the 1990s. All pieces are handcrafted, barrel polished and hand finished. 2" long tear drop crystal hangs on a 17.75" chain. Including bead decoration, the piece measures 21.75" in length.
