LYLE'S PURE CONFECTIONARY 2-PINT PITCHER was made in England by Diamond Print Ceramics by license from Tate & Lyle. It is a reproduction of an early Lyle's advertising design. In 1881, Scotsman Abram Lyle sent his five sons to London to start up a sugar refinery. He knew that sugar cane refining produced a syrup that could be utilized for cooking and eating although at the time it was largely wasted. In 1921, Lyle's merged with another refinery owned by Sir Henry Tate. Business is still being done on the original site. Tate & Lyle is now the only sugar refiner in the U.K. and the largest one in Europe. One of the original Lyle's products, Lyle's Golden Syrup, has received recognition as the oldest branded product since its familiar green and gold packaging has not changed for over 125 years. Diamond Print Ceramics went out of business several years ago and these ceramic items are no longer being produced. Microwave and dishwasher safe. 3 PITCHERS AVAILABLE.
