THE SPIRIT OF CONNLA'S WELL CARD was created from an original painting by Courtney Davis. The Celts were conscious of the magic of the natural world. Forests, sacred groves and flowing rivers all held great fascination for them. They were seen as interfaces between the material and supernatural worlds. Popular shrines were deemed to be under the care of a local guardian spirit whose worshippers would perform daily rituals. Legend has it that in County Kildare, Ireland, Connla's Well, known as the Well of Knowledge, was a place full of sacred salmon and surrounded by holy hazelnut trees. Only Nechtan and his cup bearers were allowed to draw from Connla's Well and to know the great knowledge retained there. 5"x7" blank card with decorated inside and decorated outer envelope.
